FBC Carthage E-News
May 12, 2014
Good Morning,
I hope you had a blessed
Mother’s Day and remembered and honored your mom in a special way. Having the evening service canceled, we
traveled to Franklin where my mom and dad are buried and visited their grave. I haven’t done that many times (They are not
there in the grave. They now live in the
presence of Jesus in Heaven) but I felt it would be a time to remember my
mother on Mother’s Day. It was good to
stand there and share the good memories of my mom and tell the funny stories
from my childhood. Our mothers are very
special and it is good to take time, honor them, remember the good memories,
and thank the Lord for moms.
We were blessed yesterday
to have Tom and Lori Woods, house parents with the Tennessee Baptist Children’s
Home in Franklin. We have worked with
the woods twice since January 2014 and they have been a great blessing to
us. There are many strong, committed
Christian couples just like Tom and Lori who work with us through the TBCH to
touch the lives of children. Thank you
for your financial gifts to the work of the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home.
Speaking of our work with
children, Dante Mosley was baptized yesterday in the 10:45 AM Service. Dante was saved last year at Lighthouse Camp,
another one of our ministry partners.
Many children have the opportunity to go to Lighthouse Camp each summer
through the generosity of people like you and me. This Sunday, May 18 we will have Sloan and
Ashleigh Chapman with us from Lighthouse Camp.
Sponsorship forms will be available for sponsoring children from Smith
County and surrounding counties to go to camp.
I encourage you to be
thinking about the difference Jesus has made and is making in your life. In a couple of weeks we will have our
mission/ministry t-shirts to distribute to everyone. These shirts are a blessing for us to wear as
we minister and travel on missions during the summer and all year long. This year the shirts will have the cross
prominently displayed on the front with the word LIFE and the medical
abbreviations for “before” and “after”.
The concept is for the shirt to be a tool to share the difference Jesus
makes in your life. As people ask you
what does that mean, you can explain that you life has a before and an after
and Jesus is the reason. My prayer is
that someone asks me about the shirt every time I wear it. There is no better way to start a
conversation about Jesus than to simply answer a question someone has asked. This is going to be a great summer of sharing
and exalting Jesus.
Continue to pray for Jerry
Wilmore this week as he goes to the doctor on Thursday for results from the
biopsy. We trust in the Lord’s mighty
power to deliver and heal Jerry for His praise and glory.
Before we go to the news,
also remember our graduates this week as both county high schools have their
graduations. All three of our college
graduates received their degrees last week.
Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
