FBC Carthage E-News
October 29, 2012
Good Morning,
Yesterday was a great day of worship as Tim Bush followed the Lord in baptism. It is always a blessing to hear a person publicly profess their faith in Christ and follow in baptism. We come to Christ through faith and we are baptized in obedience. May this be the beginning of a great year of people coming to faith in Jesus.
At the end of the morning messages I gave a challenge to give a loaf of bread to someone this week and share with them that Jesus is the Bread of Life. I encourage each of us to take this challenge and allow it to be an opportunity to start a conversation with a neighbor, co-worker, friend or family member.
We also had a great response to the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. There have been 74 boxes turned in as of yesterday. If you still have a box, fill it and bring it by the church this week.
Speaking of Christmas gifts, we will be receiving gifts during November for our AWANA Family Christmas Celebration, the Lighthouse Children’s Christmas Parties, and the Smith County Help Center Toyland. This is the season of giving, especially to the children in our community and region. You may wish to have the joy of going and picking out gifts or you may prefer the simplicity of a monetary donation for the gifts.
The Women on Mission will also be working with Phillip Slagle and the Sunday School classes in making up Thanksgiving boxes in the coming weeks. This has become an annual opportunity to reach into the community and touch the lives of families in need. If you know of families in need, share their names and addresses so they can be included.
Be praying this week for Lynn Sharenberger as she leaves for a Mission Trip with the Tennessee Baptist Ladies Choir to Iowa. The choir will sing in several churches and at the Iowa Baptist Convention.
Have a great week as you share a loaf of bread with a friend,
Bro. Tim
