FBC Carthage E-News
April 16, 2012
Good Morning,
This weekend I was reminded of the importance of praying for our students, both college students and those in our local schools. For most, there are only a couple of weeks remaining before finals and the end of the semester. With papers due, assignments to complete, and final examinations, this can be a very stressful few weeks. As a church, I ask us to be praying for the students. The Lord has blessed us with a great number of students.
Speaking of the end of the spring semester, it is also time to recognize those who will be graduating! This is a great milestone in the young adult’s life, whether graduating from high school or college. If you or your children are graduating this spring, call the church office and give us the exciting details. The office number is 735-1WAY (1929).
For several weeks we have been sharing the idea of Connection Groups. These groups could be home Bible studies, workplace prayer groups, or other gatherings of people with whom we share on a weekly/monthly basis. Tuesday night, April 17 at 7:00 PM, all those interested in being a part of and leading a Connection Group are asked to meet in the Sanctuary. We will discuss organization, possible locations, study materials, and basic group principles.
These are exciting days to serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
Bro. Tim
Here’s the News for the week:
1. The Pregnancy Help Center is having its second annual banquet tonight, April 16 at the Ag Center. The banquet will begin at 6:30 PM. The Pregnancy Help Center is a new ministry in our community which reaches our to girls and ladies during pregnancy with in a spirit of life and hope. There have been several ladies that have been served this past year and we are praying for even more opportunities to minister in the coming months. One part of the ministry is abstinence education in the school classrooms. We have been able to be in many of the classes and schools throughout the county. If you can not attend tonight’s banquet, I encourage you to make a financial investment in this ministry through a tax-deductable contribution.
2. All Vacation Bible School workers are reminded of the meeting this Wednesday, April 18 at 7:30 PM in Jim Broyles’ Sunday School classroom, just off the Connection Point. We will discuss Vacation Bible School and make several decisions together concerning the week. Vacation Bible School will be June 10-15. A list of Vacation Bible School workers is given at the end of this E-News.
3. This Friday, April 20, we have group rates for the movie October Baby at the Roxy Theatre in Lebanon. This movie communicates a strong “Pro-life” message that will be a blessing. The movie starts at 7:00 PM and shares the story of a young lady and her search for her birth mom. You can watch the trailer for this movie at http://octoberbabymovie.net/ . The group rate is $7 per person which includes your movie, small popcorn, and small soft drink. Simply let the person in the ticket office know you are from First Baptist Church Carthage for the special group rate.
4. The Hispanic Mission will be hosting a community block-party this Saturday, April 21 from 4:00-7:00 PM. They will have food and games set up on Fite Avenue, beside the church. You are invited to come and help them with this activity. Also, if you know Hispanic families, invite them to come and join in the fun. The event is designed to introduce the mission to the Hispanic community.
5. The Mission Montana meeting has been rescheduled for Sunday, April 29 at 3:30 PM. All team members are asked to be in this time of training and preparation.
6. A friend sent me this video of the fingerprint of God. Very interesting the reoccurring patterns in the universe. Check it out:
