FBC Carthage E-News
April 18, 2011
Good Morning,
This is a very special week in the life of Christians, the week of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. We celebrate these two events every week as we worship and proclaim Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior. However, this week is especially special as we focus entirely on the cross (Good Friday Service) and the Resurrection (Easter Sunday). I hope you are making your plans and inviting your family, friends, and neighbors to join you for these two special services:
Good Friday Service with the Lord’s Supper
Friday, April 22 at 6:30 PM
Smith County High School Auditorium
Easter Celebration
Sunday, April 24 at 10:00 AM
Smith County High School Auditorium
Throughout this week, I encourage you to read the Gospel accounts of the last week of Jesus’ life:
Matthew 21-28
Mark 11-16
Luke 19-24
John 11-21
You may want to watch the Jesus Film during this week. This film is taken from the Gospel of Luke and has been seen by millions of people around the world. You can watch this film at
http://www.jesusfilm.org/film-and-media/watch-the-film.
In fact, this film can be watched on the Internet in many languages of the world. Check it out.
This past week has been one of sadness for several families in our congregation. Let us remember these families this week in our prayers:
The family of Kenneth Robinson
The Family of Dr. Tommy Hight
Charles and Fran St. Andrews in the death of Charles’ mother.
Neal and Brenda Langford in the death of Neal’s nephew.
Have a blessed week as you think about the hope and peace we have in Jesus Christ and all He has done and is doing for you.
Bro. Tim
Here’s the News for the Week:
1. It is with great joy that we celebrate with Lynn and Judy Dedman and Kristin Ralph who came yesterday during the 10:45 AM service to become members of FBC Carthage. They each gave testimony that they have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and have followed Him in believer’s baptism.
2. We have distributed Easter Service invitations to all the homes in Carthage. There are still several hundred to distribute in South Carthage, Tanglewood, and other close areas outside the city limits. These invitations are available at the church for you to come by and distribute as your schedule permits. You simply hang the invitations on the door. DO NOT put them in mail boxes.
3. This Sunday, April 24, we will be leading the service at the Defeated Creek Campground Pavilion at 8:30 AM. You are invited for this service.
4. Reminder for the Mission Montana Team, we will meet today, Monday, April 18 at 5:00 PM in Bro. Tim’s office.
5. You are invited to help work on the Pregnancy Help Center building this week on Tuesday at 3:00 PM and Friday at 8:00 AM. We will be finishing up the electric, beginning the plumbing, and reconstructing the bathroom.
