Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus
Matthew 26:14-16

Judas was a Zealot, a maniacal zealot. He was looking for the coming Messiah to overthrow the Roman government and to restore the Jewish kingdom. Judas was ready to rise up in arms and slay the Romans. But Jesus did not come to take up swords against the Romans. Rather, He came with words and wonders, teaching us to love our enemies and honor the Father. Judas was disappointed. Jesus did not show to be the Messiah he wanted. Judas was too focused on seeking his will instead of God?s will. Therefore, in his disappointment, he agreed to "sell out" Jesus for thirty pieces of silver, the price of a slave under the law.

How many times do we "sell out" Jesus in our hearts because of disappointment and wrong focus? Are our eyes on the cross and Risen Savior, or are they on what we want? Are we seeking the will of the Father and not our will? These are hard questions to answer sometimes.
