FBC Carthage E-News
January 31, 2011
Good evening,
E-News is later today due to unforeseen challenges with the plumbing at my house and a lot of digging in the ground. In fact, I have been digging for three of the past four days. (No digging on Sunday.) Hopefully, everything is flowing the right way now. Indoor plumbing is a great invention. I realize that now that we have experienced this challenge.
I want to thank the adult Sunday School teachers for a great turn-out for the dinner and discussion of Sunday School leadership. We have a great group of dedicated Sunday School leaders in all age groups. That is so vitally important for our church. It has been said, “The Sunday School is the church, organized and functioning, to win the lost and develop the saved.” I encourage everyone to be a part of a Sunday School class each week at 9:30 AM.
A special thanks to Cindy Dowell for playing the harp yesterday during the Lord’s Supper.
We had a great planning meeting on Sunday evening for the “We Love Smith County” Day on Saturday, February 19. Many of the Sunday School classes have already begun planning their projects. We will even have a children’s mission project for the children to be involved. Everyone will meet together at 8:00 AM on that Saturday, February 19 in the Christian Life Center. Sunday night we also made plans for the Mission Montana trip, July 4-13. This year we will be working on several projects and will have something for everyone to be involved. E-mail me or call the church office for more information.
Have a blessed week as we begin the month of February. This is a great month to tell your family you love them. Tell them with words, with actions, with service, with gifts. The main thing is to tell them.
Bro. Tim
Here’s the news:
1. Deacons are reminded of the monthly meeting this Sunday, February 6 at 5:00 PM. We will be sharing information about a special Deacon Training to be held on Thursday, February 17 at 6:00 PM at the New Middleton Baptist Church.
2. We will be having AWANA and Evening Worship this Sunday at regular times. You will be home about half-time.
3. This Sunday we will continue the Amazing Journey as we study the book of Numbers.
4. We have been asked to consider having a team in the Smith County Relay for Life. This annual event raises money to help fight cancer. We will have a planning meeting next Wednesday night, February 9 after the prayer service. Cancer has touched and impacted many of our lives. Let’s join together to fight back.
5. I found this video while preparing last week for the message “God’s Call to Holiness.” Holiness is God’s shaping and making us into the image of His Son, Jesus. This great video reminds us that God uses His Word, the Bible, to chisel away those things in our lives which hinder our walk. Click on the link and watch as The Skit Guys present, “God’s Chisel.”
