FBC Carthage E-News for December 13, 2010

FBC Carthage E-News
December 13, 2010

Good, cold, snowy afternoon,

Wow! What a beautiful snowfall. I hope you are able to stay in where it is warm and out of that cold wind. I did not imagine that we would have such a snow and have to cancel the services last night. How did you get the word that the services were canceled? Send me a quick response to
tfrank@fbccarthage.com. We had it posted on the website, Facebook, the church answering machine, cell phone texts went out, and many calls were made. We will reschedule the Sing and Share, possibly in the Sunday, December 26th , 6:00 PM service.

Be praying for the special Christmas service this Sunday, December 19th at 10:00 AM at the Smith County High School Auditorium. Help us get the word out that everyone is invited to join us for this celebration of Jesus’ birth. There will be great music, stirring testimonies, and a Christmas message. Make a few calls to family and friends. Send ten people a text, inviting them to attend with you. Post an announcement of the service and an invitation to attend on your Facebook page. Be creative and have some fun as you invite people to the celebration.

In preparation for the big Christmas celebration we will be setting up the auditorium on Friday afternoon/evening. If you can help, contact me or Bro. Zeke.

There will be a special prayer time for the Christmas service on Saturday, December 18 from 8:00-10:00 AM in the High School Auditorium. We will be praying for God to move in a special way during the Christmas service.

The offering during the Christmas Service will go toward the work of our missionaries around the world through the Lottie Moon Offering for International Mission. May this be the largest offering we have ever received as we focus our hearts and minds on Jesus and His love and mission to the whole world. Christmas is about giving, God so loved that He gave the greatest gift. Let love be the motivation this Sunday for a special offering, celebrating Jesus’ birth.

Children, remember your Chinese box banks for the Lottie Moon Offering. Bring your offering this week in your box to the High School Auditorium. There will be a time for you to give your present to celebrate Jesus’ birthday.

The Sunday night service on December 19 will be a special ministry to our shut-ins. We will meet at 4:30 PM in the sanctuary and divide into groups. From there we will go to the homes and have a short service with the people. The youth are going to be Christmas caroling at the different homes while we are there.

One last Christmas reminder, we will have a candlelight communion Christmas Eve service on Friday, December 24 at 5:30 PM.

On a personal note, thank you to all who came out and braved to cold and snow for our Christmas Open House. We had a great afternoon.

This is a wonderful time of the year, even with the cold weather and snow. There is excitement in the air. “Joy to the world, the Lord is come.”

Bro. Tim

P.S. The Ladies Ornament Exchange party scheduled for tonight has been cancelled. It will be rescheduled for Friday night, December 17, or Monday night, December 20. Check with your Sunday School teacher for more information.
