Good Morning and Happy New Year!

A new year has begun and I am excited to see all that the Lord has in store for us in 2010. We have had several sign-up to receive the Bible Pathways Reading Guides. If you did not request a copy yesterday on the Attendance Sheet you can call the Church Office (735-1929) or send me back a reply to this e-mail. You can also e-mail me directly at
tfrank@fbccarthage.com. There is no charge to you for the Bible Pathway books which will come each month and be distributed on the table in the front foyer. It’s not too late to start reading the Bible through. We are to Genesis 12 for today.

January is a great time to take care of those projects we often put off. Last week I mentioned that this is a great time to throw away and re-organize those areas that tend to attract clutter. It is also a great time to do some of those inside fix-up projects. Last week we had several painting projects at church and on mission at the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home. Thanks to all who participated in these projects. The children’s area on the third floor at FBC Carthage looks great with a new and exciting coat of paint. The Children’s Home Director expressed to me his appreciation for our hard work and excellent painting job. He has invited us to make this an annual project and plan to come back next year. A little paint goes a long way to be a great blessing.

January is also the time many think of their physical well-being. Diets and exercise are high on many people’s lists of things to do. One of our young ladies, Samantha Key, was recently featured on a Fox News story about this very area of her life. If you didn’t get a chance to see it here is the link to the story:

Congratulations Samantha!

January also is designated in the Southern Baptist calendar as “Make Your Will Month.” As Christians, we are called to be good stewards of all God has entrusted to our possession. When we think of stewardship we normally think of the tithe and offerings we give to the work and ministry of the church and missions. Stewardship doesn’t stop there. We are accountable to God for how we use all He provides for us. This even includes our final stewardship, our will. Many people do not have a will and assume that things will work out after they are gone. Unfortunately, what often happens to families and within families after the death of a loved one is anything but honoring to God. Everyone needs a will that makes provisions for their spouse, children, and family. A will states how you desire for the possessions, property and cherished memories God has entrusted to you to be distributed. It is our final act of being a good steward before God. If you don’t have a will, or need to update your current will, call your attorney this month and get this taken care of for your family’s future.

Have a great week as you serve the Lord, Jesus Christ.

Bro. Tim

5. Below is a link to the Baptist Faith and Message. Yesterday, I mentioned the Baptist Faith and Message in the morning message and read a short section dealing with God. This statement of faith may be a good resource for you as you study the Bible. It is divided into sections based on doctrinal subjects and provides a short, concise statement of belief, followed by a series of Biblical passages on that subject. Take a look at the Baptist Faith and Message and read through several of the statements. It is important to know what we believe and why we believe as we do. Check out the link:
