FBC Carthage E-News
June 1, 2009
Good Morning and welcome to summer,
Nothing says it’s summertime like the calendar page turning to the month of June. By following the Lord Jesus Christ and allowing Him to guide you each day, this can be the best summer of your life. If you missed my recent article titled “The Best Summer of Your Life” you can read it at: http://ontheword.blogspot.com/2009/06/best-summer-of-your-life.html.
The challenge from the message yesterday morning begins today. Give your summer to God and allow Him to use it in a great and mighty way to touch lives and impact eternity. So today, watch for opportunities to speak a word of encouragement, share a word of testimony, or tell someone about the good news in Jesus. Begin each day with a time of prayer asking the Lord to open your eyes to the needs and opportunities around you. Also, ask Him for strength and courage to speak to others about Him.
This week is Girls Camp at Lighthouse Christian Camp in Smithville and we will have several girls from Smith County attending. Michal and Vanessa Deaver will be working at the camp this week with the girls and I plan to go a couple of days to drive the pontoon boat. (It sounds like a rough job but someone has to do it.) Michael Kilgore asked for additional people throughout the summer who could come and help. You can reach him at (615) 597-1264.
Last night was a wonderful service of praising the Lord Jesus Christ through singing and signing. We had several people share in the Singspiration Night as part of our Super Summer Sunday Nights. Most sang or played the piano, but one young lady did sign language to the song “I Can Only Imagine”. The entire evening was great and the refreshments were delicious. Thanks to Jim Broyles’ Sunday School class for hosting the evening. Next Sunday, June 7 will be hosted by the youth classes as they lead us in a Fun and Games Night. Sounds interesting. Be sure and be here for the fun.
The Vacation Bible School Workers Luncheon had a good attendance as we prepare for the biggest week of the year, VBS 2009, on June 15-19 from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. The theme is Boomerang Express: It All Comes Back to Jesus. With an Australian feel, we have invited Kentucky Down Under to bring Australian animals and share with us on Sunday night, June 14. They have an hour long program on Australia that I hear is fantastic. Invite all the children you know to the kick-off and Vacation Bible School. There are still a few spaces left in need of workers. E-mail me back if you are available and ready of an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of boys and girls this Summer.
Have a blessed week as you serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
Bro. Tim

7. Have you missed a recent sermon? Check out the sermon player under the Media Tab on the www.fbccarthage.com web site. You can also go directly to: http://sermon.net/fbccarthage
8. Speaking of the church website, I would like for you to look at the web site and send me suggestions that would make it more “user friendly”. It is easy for those of us who work on it to get to close to it so that we don’t see possibilities for improvement. If you have sites or features from other sites which you think would improve our web page send them to me at tfrank@fbccarthage.com. The FBC Carthage web site is www.fbccarthage.com.
