FBC E-News for November 10, 2008

FBC Carthage E-News
November 10, 2008

Good Morning,

It is another beautiful Fall day in Carthage. Thanksgiving is fast approaching and just behind it will be the glorious celebration of Christmas. Easter and celebration of the resurrection are the greatest of events in the Christian year, but they are only made possible because Jesus was born as a babe in Bethlehem. During the coming holiday weeks will be a great time to invite friends and family to join you at FBC Carthage.

Speaking of times, I remind you of the addition of an 8:00 AM service beginning Sunday, November 23. This extra service during the holidays will provide additional space for everyone to invite guests. This past Sunday was a great attendance and encouragement that this second service is greatly needed for the coming weeks.

In the message this past Sunday I encouraged each one to consider our stewardship of all God has entrusted to us. Be sure and take a few moments to examine your faithful use of these areas for the glory of God:
My time
My talents
My treasure
My testimony
My temple

On a personal note, I hope you have marked your calendars for the Open House at our home at 607 Main Street North on Sunday, December 14 from 2-4 PM. Fran and I would love to have you as our guest and to see the house all decorated for Christmas. We will have light refreshments and if anyone would like to bring some Christmas cookies and goodies that would be fine. The more the merrier. Invite your friends in the community to come by with you. Many knew the Sandersons and are wondering what we have been doing for these past five months to the house. They are more than welcome to stop and visit.

Also on a personal note, I am proud of my daughter Sara for being the third runner-up in the Miss Smith County Pageant this past Saturday. Of course, I thought she was the prettiest but I am very biased.

Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim

Here’s this week’s news:
(For general information about FBC Carthage check out the web site at
www.fbccarthage.com. )

1. The Tennessee Baptist Convention will be meeting this week in Hendersonville. Pray for the messengers as we gather to hear reports and conduct the business of the TBC.

2. Happy Veteran’s Day, November 11. Take a minute of two this Tuesday to call or visit a veteran that you know and thank them for serving our country. Also, pray specifically on that day for our men and women who are now serving in the military. Pray for their safety, especially for those in Iraq and Afghanistan.

3. This Sunday we will have flyers and door hangers for you to distribute in your neighborhoods inviting the people in our community to join us for Thanksgiving and the celebration of Christmas. You can choose which time of the week is best for you to make these visits.

4. After church this Sunday, November 16, the youth will be hosting a luncheon to raise money for the foster children in Smith County and their Christmas celebration. A love offering will be received at the meal for the children.

5. Sunday evening, November 16 we will be joining with the community churches for a Thanksgiving service at the Ag Center at 6:00 PM. The service will be a great time to join together with our brothers and sisters of the other churches and express our thanks to God for all His blessings. I have the opportunity and privilege to preach that evening on the indescribable gift God has given in the Lord Jesus Christ. That will be quite a task, to describe the indescribable. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

6. Our Thanksgiving Dinner and Service will be Sunday, November 23 in the Fellowship Hall at 5:30 PM. The church will be providing the turkey, dressing, bread, and drinks. Everyone is asked to bring vegetables, salads and desserts.

7. The Church Council will have a special calendar planning meeting on Sunday, November 30 at 3:30 PM to plan the special events for the coming year. All ministries, committees and program organizations are asked to submit calendar dates to the church office prior to this meeting to incorporate into the church calendar. Committee leaders are invited to attend this planning meeting.

8. Attention Deer Hunters. I will post pictures of your deer on my blog if you will send them to me at
tfrank@fbccarthage.com. Then you can see your pictures at www.ontheword.blogspot.com.

9. Check out the link of the week on the church web site
