FBC Carthage E-News for September 22, 2008

FBC Carthage E-News
September 22, 2008

Good morning,
Fall has officially arrived and before we know it the leaves will be changing, the temperature dropping and Christmas decorations going up. I love this season of the year. (I think I said that last week.) During these days take a few minutes to go outside and take a “walk with the Lord in the cool of the day.” Thank Him for His blessings. Enjoy a time of fellowship with your Lord.

This is an exciting week at First Baptist as we continue to pray for our lost and unchurched friends and family. In addition, we are inviting them to the services on Sunday. Remember that on Sunday, September 28 we will have two morning services to provide room for those we are inviting to attend. The service times will be at 8:15 and 10:45 AM. Ask your friends which of the service times would be the best for them to attend with you. Sunday School will be at regular time, 9:30 AM.

John Nix will be our special guest evangelist for the Sunday services on September 28. He is from the Memphis area and has been the camp pastor for the past seven years for the Tennessee Baptist Youth Summer Camps. I am looking forward to hearing John and I am praying for a number of decisions through this weekend emphasis.

John Nix will also be with us Friday night to speak at the 5th Quarter after the Smith County football game. All youth grades 7-12 are invited and urged to bring friends.

On Saturday, September 27 we will host a county-wide youth cookout and Powder-Puff football game at Crump-Paris Park at 5:00 PM. The Smith County High FCA and the Gordonsville High FCA are getting the girls signed up to play for their respective teams. Everyone is invited for the fun and John Nix will be sharing at the end of the game and before the cookout meal. Campus Life and Young Life are also joining in sponsoring this event.

This week we need everyone to pray for the lost and unchurched by name. Invite your family and friends to the weekend events. Believe God for the impossible. I believe God desires to see many people reached for Christ this weekend.

I showed this video at a recent conference and feel it fits in great for our emphasis this weekend. Take a few minutes to watch this clip from the movie, Facing the Giants:

Have a blessed week and get powered up for this special weekend.
Bro. Tim
