FBC Carthage E-News for October 31, 2022

FBC Carthage E-News

October 31, 2022

Good Morning,

Thank you to everyone for the cards, words of affirmation, and kindness in recognizing and expressing appreciation to Pastor Paul and me in the service yesterday.  It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your Pastor these past 14 years.  May the Lord continue to move and bless us as we serve Him together at FBC Carthage.

Reminder:  This Saturday is Time Change!  Turn your clocks back one hour.  For example, 4:00 PM becomes 3:00 PM.

Thank you, also, to those serving last week in the Trunk or Treat.  We had over 260 people from the community to join us for candy, hot dogs, soups, and fellowship.  Trunk or Treat is a fun way to reach out to the people of Carthage and Smith County.

This afternoon we will hand out hot dogs, drinks, and candy for the Carthage Jeepers Creepers event.  If you would like to help simply come to the church and join in.  Keith and Carrie Holder will be coordinating this event.

Pastor Paul Stouder is calling you to be a part of the Sunday Morning Worship Choir and he has made it much easier to be on the team.  Beginning this month, the Worship Choir will rehearse one Wednesday night a month.  Acknowledging everyone’s busy schedules, the Worship Choir will meet on the first Wednesday night of every month at 7:30 PM, immediately following the Adult and Youth Bible Studies.  So, this Wednesday, November 2 is that first Wednesday and the Worship Choir will be meeting.  Please, come and be a part of the Worship Choir.

Operation Christmas Child has officially begun with boxes and instructions available for you to pick up in the Connection Point.  Collection Week will be November 13-21 so there is not a lot of time to wait.  Get your box(es), fill them, and bring back to the Connection Point by November 20.  The Annual Packing Party will be this Wednesday, November 2 at 6:30 PM in the Christian Life Center.  Bring your family and join in this festive event.

The Women on Missions will meet on Monday, November 7 at 6;30 PM at the Pregnancy Help Center.  The Center is located at 108 College Avenue West, just behind Heartland Realty.  Ladies, please bring diapers or wipes for the work of the Pregnancy Help Center.

The Young at Heart 55+ Ministry will have a covered dish luncheon on Tuesday, November 8 at 11:30 PM.  We will meet in the Christian Life Center and Jamie Summers will be the Special Guest Speaker, sharing on Civil War history in Smith County.

The Tennessee Tech Baptist Collegiate Ministry will have its annual fundraising banquet on Friday, November 4, 6:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Cookeville. We have space at the church’s table if you would like to attend.  We will take the bus and leave from the church parking lot at 5:00 PM.  Contact Bro. Tim or the church office if you can attend.

Upcoming Mission Projects:

·        The Women on Missions will sponsor a Parents Night out for the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home on Saturday, November 12 in Franklin, Tennessee.  We will leave from the church at 3:30 PM and have supper, games, crafts, and a devotion with the children at the Children’s Home.  For more information and to sign up to help, contact Melody Tackett or Bro. Tim.

·        Please be collecting coats for our Coats for the City mission project and trip to New York City, December 1-4.  New and gently used coats are welcome.  You can bring the coats to the Connection Point, just behind the Sanctuary beside the world globe.  We are also needing large suitcases to transport the coats on the plane.

There will be a New York Mission Team Meeting this Sunday, November 6 immediately following the morning service.

Church Leadership Meetings

·        Deacons will meet November 6 at 7:00 PM in the Youth Area.

·        Church Business Meeting will be Wednesday, November 9 at 6:30 PM.

The Church Library has several new books for you to check-out and read.  The Library is a resource for your enjoyment and Christian growth and is located just off the Connection Point.

The RightNowMedia Video Series for this week is “The Game of Life.”  In this three-session series, sportscaster James Brown and former NFL coach Tony Dungy will explore how we can live for God and serve him well.  Every game has rules. In order to win, you’ve got to know your goal, your responsibilities on the team, and how to succeed all while playing by the rules. The same is true for the game of life. When we know the Word of God, his mission for us, and how to achieve that mission, we can live with a powerful impact. God has a purpose for you—are you ready to get on the field? https://app.rightnowmedia.org/en/player/video/770963?session=772351

If you are new to Rightnow Media, you will need to sign up to be able to view the resources at RightNow Video.  Simply go to: htts://www.rightnowmedia.org/Account/Invite/cfbc.

This video resource and all the videos are a gift to you from First Baptist Church Carthage.

Live 2022 like this will be the year you see Jesus.

Have a blessed week,

Bro. Tim
