Happy Valentine’s Day!
Today there will be
millions of expressions of love and goodwill as we celebrate Valentine’s
Day. As you share with those around you
today, remind them that God loves them and that you love them too. As Believers in Jesus Christ, the one
commandment He gave us is found in John 13:34.
That one commandment is to love one another. That is to be our defining
characteristic. Unfortunately, many
people would characterize Christians exactly the opposite. Too often the world sees us as hateful and
mean spirited. May we learn to express
our love and compassion for people more than we express our hatred for their
sin. The Apostle Paul shared the concept
in Ephesians 4:15 as he wrote, “speaking the truth in love.” Happy Valentine’s Day. God loves you and so do I.

All persons interested in
being a part of the Sanctuary Choir are asked to meet this Sunday, February 20
at 11:00 AM, immediately following the service in the wing near the piano. We are excited to see the choir ministry grow
as they are a very important part of the Sunday morning worship service.
Please continue to pray
for the Pregnancy Help Center as we interview several prospective candidates
for the Director’s position this week.
I am delighted to announce three men have been
selected to serve as deacons of First Baptist Church. They are Grant Denney, Joe Vining, and Jerimiah
Wilkerson. We will plan an Ordination
Service in March as we set them aside for service to the church. Please pray for these three men and their
families.
Attention Men:
The Smith County Men’s Conference will be held March
18 and 19 at the Ag Center. We will have
a wild game dinner on Friday night and breakfast on Saturday. Both sessions will have inspirational
speakers and special music. Door prizes
will be given away from local businesses.
Invite a friend to attend with you.

As an encouragement to our
married couples on Valentines Day, the RightNow Media Video series of the week
is “A Lifelong Love” by Gary Thomas. Whether
your marriage needs a complete makeover, a touch up, or just a new purpose,
this video series based on Gary's book, A Lifelong Love, promises to set
your relationship on an entirely new dimension. You will never look at worship
or your spouse in the same way again. Gary will guide you through the power
shifts and seasonal mine fields that blow up so many marriages so that you can
grow in your love instead of in your disappointment. Check
