FBC Carthage E-News for November 2, 2020

FBC Carthage E-News

November 2, 2020

Good Morning,

Wow!  Last week was amazing as we had a great Trunk or Treat with over 200 people coming through and a great Halloween evening ministry booth in front of the church.  We gave out the candy, food, and flyers to over 300 children.  It was a great week of presence in the community and reaching out to our neighbors.  It never ceases to amaze me how many people there are to reach in Smith County for the Gospel of Jesus.  May the Lord lead us to new ways to share the Gospel and reach people in the months and years ahead.

The Women on Mission group will host an Operation Christmas Child Shoebox packing party tonight, Monday, November 2 at 6:30 PM in the Christian Life Center.  Youth, children and older preschoolers are invited to be a part of this event as we pack boxes to send to the boys and girls throughout the world.  All ladies are invited to be a part of this festive evening.

Operation Christmas Child boxes are available for you to pick up in the Connection Point.  A brochure gives details for packing a box and the items you can include.  Use this effort to engage your whole family in touching the life of a child for Jesus Christ.  The collection week will be November 16-23.

We have completed using the “31 Days of Prayer” guide during October to pray for the nation.  I encourage us to use it again in November as we continue to pray for the many needs.  Let’s be faithful to pray for our nation, our state, our community, our church, and our families.

This Tuesday, November 3 is Election Day and I urge everyone to go out and vote.  That is our basic Christian Citizenship privilege and responsibility.  Do not excuse away this fundamental right.  Vote your convictions.  Vote your Christian principles.  Vote for the candidates that best represent what you believe.

We will have one final Tuesday morning prayer time this week from 7:00-7:30 AM in the Sanctuary.  On this historic day as we elect the next President, let us pray earnestly for God’s guidance and deliverance for our nation.   Even if you can’t come to the Sanctuary in the morning, take time during the day to pray for our nation.

This Wednesday, November 4 will be the start of our Wednesday Night Meals at 5:00 PM in the Christian Life Center.  This first meal of the year is on the house.  Come and enjoy the food and fellowship as we share a meal together.

This Wednesday is also the start of our mission groups for our Preschool and Children.  Mission Friends, RAs, and Gas will begin this Wednesday, November 4 at 6:30 PM.

This is the season of giving as we move toward Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Here are several ways you can give a special gift this year:

·        We are collecting winter coats for the annual coat give-away through our partner church in New York City.  You can bring coats to the Connection Point or contact the church office for shipping information to ship new coats directly to Bridge Community Church in New York.

·        Operation Christmas Child boxes begin this Sunday as we distribute hundreds of boxes to fill with items for a special child somewhere in the world.  Boxes and information sheets will be in the Connection Point.  The Women on Missions and the children of the church will have a special “Packing Party” on Monday, November 2 at 6;30 PM in the Christian Life Center.  Everyone is invited for this festive time.

·        Lighthouse Christian Camp serves the children in Middle Tennessee through their summer camps and all year long.  We will be receiving toys and items for their Christmas Parties through the month of November.  Volunteers are also needed to work in the Christmas Parties, held December 5 and 12 from 9:30AM-3:00 PM.  Lighthouse is located in Smithville, Tennessee.  See Bro. Tim for more details.

We continue to provide access to online giving by texting the word GIVE to 1-(615) 492-8661.  The first time you use the electronic giving, you will enter your giving information.  After that, you simply enter the offering you wish to make.  You can also text the word LIFE to (615) 492-8661 to give electronically to the Pregnancy Help Center.

The Pregnancy Help Center Banquet will be held on Thursday, November 5, 6:00 PM at the Smith County Ag Center.  Our church will be preparing and serving the meal that evening.  We need additional people to attend this important banquet which benefits the Pregnancy Help Center.  There are opportunities to volunteer and serve through this ministry.  To sign-up for the banquet and /or to serve, contact Tim Frank or call the church office at (615) 735-1929.

The Right Now Video of the week is “Return to the Holy Land.”  Journey with Franklin Graham and his family, to the land of the Bible. Many passages from God's Word come alive in this devotional series, filmed on location in the Holy Land. Enjoy this special tour of God's Word traveling through Israel, as the group explores and discusses meaningful passages.
