FBC Carthage E-News for October 12, 2020

FBC Carthage E-News

October 12, 2020

Good Morning,

I remind you to be praying for our nation during the month of October.  The most important thing we can do is to call upon Almighty God to bring a spiritual awakening and revival to our land.  During October, let’s talk less and pray more for the issues facing our nation.

This week begins early voting for the upcoming Presidential election.  Early voting will be held at the Smith County Election Office in the Turner Building, starting Wednesday, October 14.  Times will be Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm and Saturdays from 8am-12 noon.  For more information, contact the Election Commission at (615) 735-8241.  Election Day will be Tuesday, November 3.  Be praying for this historic election and for God’s will to be done.

Attention Ladies:  The Women on Mission group will meet tonight, October 12 at 6:30 PM in the Christian Life Center.  The special mission project for tonight will be putting together Christmas Backpacks to distribute in the TBMB Appalachian Ministry in East Tennessee.  All ladies are invited and urged to attend.

We praise the Lord for the faithful giving of His people during this past month.  Even with the pandemic and missing several weeks of in-person services, we had the largest yearly giving to the church budget in the history of FBC Carthage.  Thank you for your faithfulness to the Lord during this challenging time.

This Wednesday night, October 14 will be our monthly business meeting at 6:30 PM in the Sanctuary. We will receive recommendations from the Nominating Committee, Committee on Committees, and Budget Committee.  All church members are invited and urged to attend as we move into a new church year of ministry and missions.

We continue to provide access to online giving by texting the word GIVE to 1-(615) 492-8661.  The first time you use the electronic giving, you will enter your giving information.  After that, you simply enter the offering you wish to make.

Trunk or Treat will be Wednesday, October 28 and we will be doing things a little differently.  Due to COVID-19 we will do a drive through Trunk of Treat down Fite Avenue.  Candy and a sack supper will be distributed in this drive-through event.  If you would like to help with this fun event contact Matt or Elizabeth Davis.  You can also bring bags of candy to the Connection Point to donate for the children.

We are collecting winter coats for the annual coat give-away through our partner church in New York City.  You can bring coats to the Connection Point or contact the church office for shipping information to ship new coats directly to Bridge Community Church in New York.

The Right Now Video of the week, “What do you want most in life?”  Listen to these three stories of success and second chances from Rend Collective's lead vocalist Chris Llewellyn, Ebola doctor Nathalie MacDermott and pro-skateboarder Brian Sumner brought up in Liverpool. Billy Graham shares about second chances through Jesus Christ and what you need most.  Check out this video, share this video with family and friends:  https://www.rightnowmedia.org/Content/Series/447540?episode=1
