FBC Carthge E-News for February 18, 2019

FBC Carthage E-News
February 18, 2019

Wow! What a week!

This has definitely been a week of highs and lows.  We have renewed friendships and shared sorrows.  We have laughed and cried.  We have been thrilled with new life and moved with grief in loss.  Through it all, may the Lord Jesus Christ be exalted as our hope and peace.

It was a blessing to have Zeke and Layne and their family visit and share with us on Wednesday night.  The Lord has blessed them is so many ways in these past 6 years in Hilo, Hawaii.  Then this weekend having Pastor Hamisi from Ridgeways Baptist Church in Nairobi, Kenya was a great blessing.  To hear of the work in Kenya and to anticipate our church’s direct involvement in starting a new church there is very exciting.

This past week has also had sadness in the passing of Bro. Matt Davis’ mom, Melissa Davis.  She was such a sweet, Christian lady.  Her funeral was truly a celebration of a life well lived in honor and glory to Jesus Christ.  Matt shared personal memories of his mom and I had the honor to officiate the service and bring the message based on her life verse, Jeremiah 29:11.  Please continue to pray for Bro. Matt and his family, especially his dad, Bro. Jimmy Davis who is a pastor in Millington, Tennessee.

Our group from FBC Carthage traveling to Israel left this morning early for an exciting 10 days in the Holy Land.  We will look forward to their sharing of the experiences once they return.

Speaking of Israel, we have rescheduled the information and interest meeting for our September trip to Israel to this Sunday, February 24 at 2:00 PM in the Christian Life Center.  All persons interested in being a part of this trip are encouraged to attend.  We will discuss reservations, details, and answer questions.

We are also making our plans this week for the Mission Trip to Kenya, May 30-June 14.  If you have interest in being a part of this mission team after hearing Pastor Hamisi yesterday, contact me this week at (931) 261-8452.   This will be the first trip of a three year partnership with Ridgeways Baptist Church in starting a new church in Western Kenya in the town of Migori.

I appreciate those who stepped in and helped in my and Bro. Matt’s absence yesterday.  It is a blessing to have many strong leaders in our church.

I remind you of the “Overflow Service Viewing” being offered again in the Youth Room just below the Sanctuary.   The Sunday morning service is live on the large television.

Yesterday in the service, Pastor Hamisi mentioned sharing the “Roman Road of Salvation” several times.  You may wonder what is the “Roman Road of Salvation?”  Here is a written and simple video presentation using verses in Romans to share with someone the plan of God’s salvation in Jesus.  Check it out:  https://www.gotquestions.org/Romans-road-salvation.html

Have a blessed week,
Bro. Tim
